Kertas jenis ape tu? *_*clueless

I thought every paper is called paper! smue kertas adalah kertas, kan sonang..
The first time in my life I encountered the papers' name! Huwalla wey..

Misery..
That's the word.
At least the publisher should give some basic info about the types of paper their using.
Tak payah la aku kena duk google buang masa lama-lama belajar pasal jenis2 kertas. Selamat aku mmg tak de kerja skarang nih. Hai..

It all happens when I was searching for my wedding card. I,ve bumped into these many crazy paper types (yes, its important for me as they do differ in prizes!) as well as those tremendous lots of cards' designs, shapes, colours. Gahh, terrible.

For some momment now, I do feel like a person working in printing arena since I've been spending half of my night googling for those paper types.

So, to ease you girls,
Here are some basic info about most popular paper types used in making kad kahwin :


128gsm Art Paper

  • Is known as Glossy Paper
  • Thicker than 105gsm Art Paper and smooth surface
  • Ideal for Leaflet, Brochure, Catalogue and Poster


157gsm Art Paper

  • Is known as Glossy Paper
  • Is a white paper
  • Smooth surface
  • Suitable for both side lamination
  • Used for Leaflet, Brochure, Catalogue, Poster, Paper Bag

220gsm Card

  • White color card
  • Rough surface
  • 2 types:
    • Ivory Card
      • Normal Plain Card
    • Linen Card
      • Lines Texture on Card
  • Ideal for Business card, Book Mark/ Price Tag, Greeting Card

230gsm Art Card

  • Is known as Glossy Card
  • White Card
  • Hard to tear
  • Smooth surface
  • Suitable for both side lamination, Spot UV
  • Ideal for Book Mark/ Price Tag, Post Card, Greeting Card

260gsm Art Card

  • Is known as Glossy Card
  • Thicker than 230gsm Art Paper
  • Smooth surface

80gsm Simili Paper

  • Is known as Rough Paper
  • Soft and inexpensive compare to other
  • Ordinary plain paper
  • Ideal for Leaflet, Brochure, Catalogue, Poster, Letterhead, Bill Book, Booklet

100gsm Simili Paper

  • Is known as Rough Paper
  • Thicker than 80gsm Simili Paper

A little about the finishing

Gloss Lamination

  • Provide a glasslike finishing
  • Make the colors look extremely bright
  • Is hard shine
  • Is hard tearing
  • Protect image of product from scratches and waterproof

Matt Lamination

  • Provide less glasslike but deep satiny finish
  • Block out most of the reflection
  • Is coupled with smooth texture
  • Offer a non reflective silky image to protect product
  • Protect image of product from scratches and waterproof

UV

  • Protect the image and look sheen
  • Smooth surface
  • Easy to tear

Spot UV

  • Is applied to chosen area of printed piece
  • Liven up a printed piece such bringing extra attention on it.
  • Smooth surface
  • Is hard to tear
